SFMTA Website Re-Design

The Challenge

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) hired, WSC partner Amber Bieg, in partnership with InkëDesign, Five Paths, and InterEthnica to redesign and develop the SFMTA website. With roughly 3500 pages of content, over 20 custom content types and over 20 custom views, the SFMTA website was outdated and highly complex.

The Solution

Amber’s team worked to redesign website by unifying and simplifying its structure. They worked to “refresh”  it to modern standards, as well as updated to be readable on mobile devices (which now represented over 50% of all page views following the completion of the project). Lastly, the website was designed to be accessible to non English speakers and people with disabilities, particularly those with visual impairments, according to Title 36 of the Federal Code of Regulations and section 508 of the rehabilitation act of 1973.
