John Gardner, PhD, PE
Senior Engineering Advisor
Dr. Gardner is a Senior Engineer and Advisor for Warm Springs Consulting. Dr. Gardner retired from Boise State University in 2021 as a professor emeritus of mechanical and biomedical engineering. During his time at Boise State, he served a series of administrative roles including department chair, Associate VP for campus sustainability and most recently as director of the CAES Energy Efficiency Research Institute. His research in the applications of control system theory spans a broad range of fields from robotics to smart grids. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed research publications, 3 textbooks, co-inventor of 3 US Patents and gave a talk in the TEDxBoise conference in 2019. John serves on the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and is a member of the Committee on Engineering Accreditation for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Idaho and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
