Scopes of Work:

  1. Market Analysis
  2. Techno-Economic Feasibility Study

Schedule: 2022 - Ongoing

Summary:

In 2022, Nevada Canyon engaged WSC to analyze carbon credit markets and develop a business plan for potential market entry. The market analysis yielded promising results, with a potential of $1.3 billion annually in rangeland carbon credits in Idaho and Nevada - encouraging interested developers and project managers to explore rangeland soil carbon sequestration carbon credit markets.

WSC forged partnerships with Boise State University, Utah State University, Soils for the Future, Carbon Solve, and Idaho ranchers, to undertake a carbon credit feasibility and pilot project. This project evaluates the economic viability of Idaho regenerative ranching as a climate solution, emphasizing the creation of rangeland carbon credits through adaptive rotational grazing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the state's ranching industry. Additionally, it examines the feasibility of generating carbon credits on private, state, and federal rangelands in Idaho, highlighting the role of adaptive rotational grazing as a carbon sequestration solution.

To foster an interdisciplinary approach to rangeland management, the project engages academic, business, and public agency leaders. Outcomes include (1) an Idaho Public Lands Rangeland Carbon Policy Report, (2) a Carbon Credit Feasibility Report and Pilot Case Study, (3) a Drawdown Analysis Summary, and (4) a facilitated workshop among ranchers and public agency staff regarding the future of grazing on public lands.
